Professor Chia Ning Chang is a member of the Department of East Asian Languages & Cultures at University of California Davis. He received his PhD at Stanford University and is presently the University of California Director of the Education Abroad Program at Meiji Gakuin University.
On April 22, 2017 we hosted Professor Chang. He presented the story of Yoshiko Yamaguchi. Ms. Yamaguchi was an actress hired by the Japanese government to star in films during World War II. Being fluent in Chinese, Ms. Yamaguchi portrayed a young Chinese who was helped by the Japanese army in China. After the war she became a film star in Hollywood and also a member of the Japanese parliment.
